How Dare You Dream BIG?

Who in the world do you think you are to chase your dreams, and actually catch them?
How dare you work everyday to build into your vision?
What makes your goals different and more achievable?
Question after question, doubt after doubt, you continue to push through. Because your an artist. An entrepreneur. A bad ass with nothing but drive and positive energy. At least that's what you tell yourself day after day.

Why should you finish? Why should you be different than all the rest? The ones who quit because they was tired of failing, rejection, and being broke because of sacrificing?
What makes your dream so special?
It's your thirst for better. It's that thing they call passion and purpose that you were born with. It's the gift of entrepreneurship that keeps on giving.
It's that last call you got from a happy client, that last review that read "5 stars", it's that last service you gave that left you feeling accomplished and valuable!

The world won't pay you compliments when you need them. The people won't always agree with you, like your work, say thank you and leave you with good vibes all the time. And yet, you still have to find the energy to PUSH THROUGH! You still have to write that blog like a million people read it, and create that video with under 100 views, 75 of them were yours. You still have to continue giving 100% because one day all those things will add up. They will be the bread and butter of your business. No guru, boss, self made millionaire or business mogul made it easy and fast! They all had to, push through.

That's what separates the successful and the unsuccessful. Because of our will to keep going after we've failed, cried, screamed, quit in that moment, and somehow found strength to build again. People will not support you for who you are and who you are not. A person with no intent to ever like you or what you do will silently envy your courage, and then attack you for being brave! Once we understand we are not for everybody, and there will be haters, and discouraging moments, then we can focus more on being US with no apologies. We can move forward with our creative contributions to the world.

Being open and vulnerable enough to share things you love with strangers takes balls! And to be mocked or shamed or talked about because you had enough of them to do it, is ridiculous! Continue being different, brave, strong and encouraged to acquire all the things your heart desires! Always PUSH THROUGH!

I hope this post brought good, positive energy your way. It's sad that so many of us are being brave alone and without self motivation there would be no motivation. But you are your own team. Without your perseverance and tunneled vision you wouldn't be who you are right now! And just know YOU MATTER! YOUR DREAMS MATTER!

Create your own GLITTER Shadows!

Sparkling eyeshadow has grown major popularity amongst makeup artist everywhere. So much so, makeup brands are charging ridiculous prices to get your hands on it! Well, if you have it, spend it. But if your balling on a budget like me, why not create your own glittery eyes? All you need is a Walmart or local craft store, strip lash glue and a disposable eyeshadow applicator. Oh, and an apron for yourself or your client, as there will be lots of free fall! To make your own glitter shadow is simple and fun, but requires skill and a steady hand. Gifted mua's can easily apply it, but I caution newbies & beginners to beware, the glitter is very fine and can irritate your eyes if it gets in them.
Now that we've got all that out the way, let's create the magic!

First you need to purchase your glitters.
You can buy them separately at about $1.99
a tube, or purchase a pack for about $7-$9 bucks.
I suggest buying a pack so you can have
multiple colors to play around with.

The fun thing about buying loose
glitter, is you can mix different glitters
to create your own color. Here, I
mixed silver, green and a dash of purple.
Before applying your glitter, dress the
eyes up with eyeshadow like you normally
would, but using the same colors as your
loose glitter. This way, your base matches
underneath just in case you have broken
or small gaps within the glitter.

Next, you want to pull out your
strip lash adhesive. I so don't use this
for my strip eyelashes, as I hate that
white substance and it doesn't hold
like I need it to. So, I put it to use to apply
my loose glitter. And it lasts all day!
You don't need alot. Grab your disposable
makeup applicator, squeeze a small,
very small amount and smooth evenly
across your or your client's eyelid. Then,
you dip that same applicator into the glitter,
building it on the eyelid, creating the
desired look you want. Once you've applied,
take your fan brush and sweep all the
excess off the face and surrounding
area. Sometimes you can take your brow
brush to get that stubborn free fall
that doesn't want to come off.

After you've completed that,
continue on with the rest of your face,
or application of your eyelashes.
Once your finished, you'll have a
very pretty, vibrant and blingy eye!
Here's a few glittery eyes I've created
on myself and my clients.

I hope this helps in your MUA adventures! If
you have any questions or would like to add to
this, please feel free to comment/reply on this post.

BITZY Nail Polish! The good, the bad, the CONFETTI!!!

Before I begin, I want to start off by saying I'm a huge fan of BITZY Cosmetics! So this blog is in no way an attempt to down play the fairly new brand. But rather to inform my polish lovers and nail addicts across the world about my experience with the pocket-sized colors! I spoke highly about the brand in earlier posts and if I'm still purchasing their products, then obviously BITZY is a cosmetic line I enjoy using. Now don't think for one second they just create nail polish; BITZY provides quality eyeshadows, lip crayons, glosses, eyeliners, carrying cases and so on. And I buy all of it, lol!
So, without further a due, let's go through my short review.

"JUST FAB"
A cool nail color that resembles a metallic gold
and compliments any punk rock chick at heart!
The color consistency and the no streaking leaves
your nails looking rich and fabulous! This gets a 5 star
rating from me.

"SWEETIE PIE"
The name is just as cute as the polish. But had it
been me, I would of named this polish "Birthday Cake".
And then again, I don't make polishes. Yet. One coat of
this delicious looking color is ok, but two coats puts
the icing on the cake! It's beautiful and so perfect for a
fun Spring/Summer nail look. This too gets a 5
star rating in my books.

"KNICK KNACK"
Ha! What a name that fits so well to this dotted
pink & white ambiance! Again, with this color, one
coat was fine, add another layer and you can wear it all
by itself. Although, pairing with a white or pink polish would
look exquisite. But who wants to be boring and do
the obvious! Love, love, love this color!
5 stars of course.

"FUNKY MELON"
Looking at the bottle your like cool! But if your into
nails like me, then you know for darn sure this polish
won't go on as good as it looks in the bottle. And the name fits
it just right, FUNKY! You had to put on multiple layers to achieve
getting any of the colorful confetti onto the nail. Your better off
using this nail polish as a clear top coat with a dash of
greens, blues, & pinks here and there. Very frustrating when
you buy the polish solely in hopes of designing the nail
with confetti. 2 star rating in my book!

Overall, BITZY Cosmetics Nail Polish is a great solution to switching up from your ol' regular routines of reds, nudes and shrewds, lol. However, be cautious of buying polish with such "add ins" that are hard to show up on your nail. On a good note, the polishes dry rarely fast and has a shine to them even without a topcoat!

Care for your SKIN, like you care for your WEAVE!!!!

I knew the title would get you to read this! And I'm glad it did. How dare you treat your skin with such disrespect? Don't you care about how soft it should feel & bump free it should be up under all that makeup? And even if you don't wear makeup, you should care in general! You condition your weave. You use chemicals that won't dry it out or break it down. So why not do the same for your face! Why not give that same respect for your weave, to your skin?
Facials are important, and your skin matters! Here, I touch on a few pure & organic items that work miracles on your skin! It's imperative you take care of the one thing people see first when they meet you, YOUR FACE! Now this doesn't mean neglect your weave, lol, however, treat your skin with some love! Look & feel younger without using harmful products or caked on makeup!

Here are some Organic & Pure Key
Products I use when providing a facial
skin care service to my clients.

Well, let's start with the basics. I touched on these
Alba Botanica products in an earlier blog post,
but felt the need to exaggerate the importance
of them in this blog! The items below are your first
steps when conducting a facial. You have your cleanser,
exfoliant, and moisturizer (used after you complete facial).
I use Alba Botanica because it's loaded with vegetarian ingredients & packaged using 100% recycled products.

Now, to the really, really good stuff! Well it's
all good stuff, but boy does this Moroccan Red Clay
Powder work magic on sensitive skin! This
bad mama jama is awesome for detoxification.
Sensitive skin especially has great need for
removal of toxics & impurities, as well as smaller
pores and tighter skin. Can be used for all
sensitive skin types!

Activated Charcoal! Nooooo, you can't bbq
with it. But you can sizzle away other nasty
stuff! Nature's Answer created this beautiful
jar of capsuled charcoal to draw bacteria, poisons,
chemicals, dirt, and other micro-particals to the
surface of the skin. Helping you to achieve a
flawless complexion & fight against acne.
It can also be used to treat poisonous bites &
disinfect some wounds! Charcoal is not metobalized
and will not be absorbed by the body. Use one
capsule per facial; it can be mixed with your clay
mask, or oatmeal mask.

Oatmeal! What a beautiful & useful substance!
Oatmeal does so many wonderful things
for our body & to our body. Best when it's raw
& uncooked. Works marvelous on all skin types
but acne sufferers can benefit from it, as it
contains an antimicrobial ingredient, which
inhibits the spread of bacteria and soaks up excess
oil. Creating oatmeal masks can be moisturizing
for the skin without clogging pores. It has
inflammatory properties as well as soothing
irritated, itchy, dry skin. Can also be used as a mild
soap, as it contains "saponins", which is a
cleansing agents. Use warm water until a pasty-like
mixture is created and apply all over the face.

Rose Water is amaze balls! Literally!
It's anti-inflammatory properties help
reduce redness of irritated skin, gets rid
of acne, dermatitis & eczema! It's a great cleanser
& aids in removing oil and dirt accumulated
in clogged pores. You can mix inside your facial
mask, or spray on mist before applying your
moisturizer. I use this on me & my daughter.
We both have dry skin/eczema & since I've
started this we haven't had any itchy breakouts!
Drinking lots of water also helps!

Toner! Who doesn't need firmer,
tighter skin? Put this to use after
a full facial. It gets rid of facial soaps, oils
& dead skin cells. Also helps to restore
natural pH balance to the skin. Inside this Burt's
Bees toner is tomato, cucumber, and parsley.
Ingredients like these extracts a deep clean,
and tightens pores. Leaving your face feeling,
smoother, firmer & more finely-textured.
This product is for all skin types but especially
beneficial for oily & troubled skin types!

So now that you've learned quite a bit about the importance of facials, will you make it your duty to take care of your skin alot better? Please note, these products work best if used with on a consistent basis. A facial should be conducted weekly, along with drinking plenty water & keeping clean pillow cases!
The world is a stressful place, don't have your skin look like what you've been through. Makeup is fun; it's an addition to beauty, but true external beauty is what you look like without it! Be good to your skin!

Cleaning your STRIPS to prevent infections!

Rather your an MUA or a lash addict who enjoys quick, easy and stylish lash applications, keeping your strips clean should be top priority. Proper sanitation is simple and will prevent infections, especially if you wear your pair daily. Our eyes are sensitive and having eyelashes, natural or fake keeps dust, dirt and small particles out of your eyes. So just imagine wearing the same set daily with build up of makeup and debris with no cleaning? Gross right? Well below I list some a couple steps to keeping your strip lashes fresh and wear ready!

The lashes I purchase aren't at all
super expensive and they last
a last long time! These 3 styles
are my fav! I keep the cases too,
to store my lashes after I remove
them at the end of the day!

Step 1:
Wash your hands & towel dry clean.
Remove your strip lash set carefully.
You don't want to destroy your natural lashes.
Grab a pair of tweezers
and begin removing that old glue from the
artificial lash line. Take your time, you don't
want to rip it.

Step 2:
Grab a clean paper towel to sit your strip lashes on,
Spray your alcohol (at least 91% or higher)
lightly on your lash set. Let dry.

Step 3:
Pick up lash set with tweezers and
store back in clean case. If you'd like to, you can
also spray your lash case before storing your
strips. This keeps both case & lashes santized.

Your all done! See that wasn't hard at all!

SEXY, SUMMER LIP PAINTS by boojiBEE!

Now that I've settled into my new home in Atlanta, and put focus back into blogging on beauty topics, my first short story in Georgia must be on these new captivating lip paints by Poptastic! As I was shopping in the whole sale beauty supply store, I came across some super cheesy looking lip glosses. You know, the ones you've never heard of, yet the colors are so rich looking and your like, hmmmm let me try it out!
Well being that it's a whole sale supply store, I couldn't buy just one. I had to buy the pack. Which can be risky being I've never heard of Poptastic... But, man am I happy about this investment.

What caught my eye first was the melanated woman
on the front of the tube. I mean how often do you see that?

Next was the fact the packaging was simple, and
straight to the point! It has "PAINT ME" big as day and
the shiny, gold design with the matching top isn't a bad touch either.

Soooooooo of course I had to try one! I know, I know, I
shouldn't open packages without paying for them first, but come on! The last thing a makeup artist needs is crappy colored lip sticks, glosses, paints! So yeah, I poked a hole in the plastic, pop that purple bad boy open and squeezed out a nice dime sized amount. And boy was it like magic! The minty fragrance, the just right moisterizing feel and the color, the COLOR just POPPED!

Another thing about these lip paints are, I believe, is it goes on like gloss and then dries some what like a matte. I know this because I wore it the whole time I shopped for other needed supplies! And it lasts a while. It stains your lips, so you can kiss, drink stuff and talk for a while without reapplying the color!

I have a 24 pack and will be selling these for $4 a piece with free shipping on my website! I also will keep one of each color for my clients who want to try some sexy new lip colors for their summer looks! These I definitely give 2 thumbs up and will buy more of once these are gone or if the company comes out with new colors!

I hate the term "GOING NATURAL"...

I hate the term "going natural." Black/African women don't go natural, we return natural. We convert back to our essence and reclaim our crown. Our hair speaks volumes as to who we are and where we come from. For generations we have been fed to believe our hair wasn't pretty, wasn't good and it needs to be "relaxed" to be accepted. Little did we know, our hair has connections to the Sun, our hair tells stories and most importantly, it's a distinctive part of our identity and our belonging to other "kinky haired" people across the globe!
Below, I briefly show you a step by step process for one of many hairstyles us "natural" hair women can do for an easy, stylish look! Now don't get me wrong, as a beauty professional, I love switching up my look. From short to long, adding extensions and braids and maybe some bold, wild coloring. But at the end of the day, I don't mind rocking out my real hair and creating a fun & flirty look with it!

Achieve these beautiful curls in no time!

Step 1:
Grab your awesome organic hair products and clean
your hair vigorously!

Step 2:
After shampooing and conditioning,
do a deep conditioner with an organic hair mask
infused with healing & repairing ingredients for your hair!
Sit under the dryer for 10-15 minutes on the cool setting.
Once your done, rinse with warm water.

Step 3:
Towel blot your hair. Do not completely dry.
Take a leave in conditioning spray, in my case I used
Alba Botanica coconut milk mist spray; and spray all over.
Some may use a foaming wrap lotion. I don't like putting
all those chemicals in my hair so I used a product that was less
harsh and vegan friendly. Other items you need are a comb,
hair clips, and roller rods.

Step 4:
Completely saturate your hair with your product
of choice. Then you want to part and two-strand twist
your hair, attaching a roller rod. Continue this until your
head is completely covered. It doesn't matter how big or
small your partings and twist are.

Step 5:
Once your finished twisting and rolling your rods,
you want to sit under your dryer, with the heat setting on high,
until your whole head is completely dry! This can take up to
a half an hour up to an hour or longer depending on how thick
your hair is. But be patient! The dryer it is the better the style and hold!

Step 6:
Remove rods and untwist!
(Finished pics were taken after I left my house.
Mommy duties were calling!)
And WALA! There you have a nice textured and
stylish curl for your natural, beautiful self!

This style usually lasts me about 3-4 days depending on if I workout and sweat it out! I wrap my hair at night with a loose bonnet to preserve the "curly fro" look of it. I awake, spray my coconut milk mist to wake up my curls. May spray a light shine mist by Design Essentials and I'm out the door! Hopefullyyou enjoy this look as much as I do!
